Remote Anchor WLC redudnacy

Hi all,

Question regarding remote anchor WLC redundancy functionality.  Topology:  2 locations, each with anchor WLC.  Location 1 is primary anchor (priority 1), Location 2 is secondary anchor (priority 2).  How would (if at all) fail over work, if the Internet circuit at location 1 became unavailable, but the MOB tunnel between foreign WLCs and primary anchor is still available.  Wouldn't that black hole guest clients to a DMZ environment without internet access?

What would be the solution to provoke anchor fail over in the event of upstream Internet circuit failure at the primary anchor's location?

Thanks.

WLCs are not L3, so it is not intelligent to detect any routing changes and act accordingly.

I totally agree.  Any interruptions of services northbound do not affect the MOB tunnel, thus no fail over would occur.  A failure of anchor WLC or breakdown of MOB tunnel would provoke a fail over.

I was wondering if maybe anyone has any trickery to answer the question.

Thank you for your response.

P.S., your website/blogs = awesome.
