Software for EWC Subordinate AP

Hi, is it a must the EWC Subordinate AP must be installed with lightweight software? Can we deploy all the AP with EWC software as primary and subordinate AP?

EWC act as controller One of  AP act as controller.

other AP - AP running Lightweight access point to serve for client.
