Hello,
I'm playing with two "28021-E-K9" AP with the IOS AIR-AP2800-K9-ME-8-5-151-0.tar installed in console session in CLI mode with a tftp server.
When I connect both AP on my network one become Master and the other one is in the AP list. Good.
But if I create a new SSID, save the conf and force the second AP to be master I lost the newlly created SSID.
If I force the first one to be Master again, I retrive the SSID.
Why ?
It seems there is no configuration synchronisation between ME controllers
Is the two "controllers" must have the same IP adress and name or not ?
It's more easy to use the same IP because when you switch you'll use the same IP to connect to the new elected master.
I tried both options and I have the same problem.
Other strange things I dont have the "Create group" button in advanced mode.
Any ideas ?
Many thanks

Have you tried upgrading to 8.5.160 code to discard hitting the bug I have mentioned before? Just only to discard it.
It would take you less than an hour to test the same behaviour or not.

You seems to be hitting CSCvo18656 (https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCvo18656) that it is solved in 8.5.160 code.
I was suffering he same strange issue until further investigation on the open caveats for that specific version, so I would recommend you to upgrade or downgrade.

This bug affect Cisco 5500 users.
I'm in Mobility Express Mode.
I factory reset the AP with the mode button >20s.
The new AP is reconized by the Mobility Express Controller of the first AP already in place.
I save, in hoping synchronisation
I force the new AP to be master.
On the console the new AP fall in the controller Autoinstal mode and ask :
"Would you like to terminate autoinstall? [yes]:"
I say Yes but ask for user name, password, time zone...
What's wrong ?
I finally have one AP with his controller and another AP managed by the controler.
If I force the second AP to be controller the new controlleur use his own configuration and not the previous controller configuration.
It seems Mobility Express is a full bag of bugs.

Actually WLC and ME share a lot of the code, so I wouldn't be too surprised if this bug also affected ME installations.
How exactly did you "I force the new AP to be master."?
Here is the procedure: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/technotes/8-5/b_cisco_mobility_express_8_5/b_cisco_mobility_express_8_5_chapter_01000.html
Also note the software requirements!

AP1 and AP2 are running and AP1 is also the controller1.
AP1 and AP2 broadcast the controller1 SSID1.
If I force the AP2 to be master, the controller of AP2 become up and running and AP1 become a simple AP.
But now the SSID broadcated by AP1 and AP2 is the SSID2 of the controller2.
I'm obliged to report manually all modifications made in one controller to the other after starting it.
Not cool.
Not cool.
