Please check the release notes for the code you intend to upgrade to. For example, if you wanted to upgrade to 7.4, you would have to upgrade twice.
•It is not possible to directly upgrade to the 7.4.100.0 release from a release that is older than 7.0.98.0.
•You can upgrade or downgrade the controller software only between certain releases. In some instances, you must first install an intermediate release prior to upgrading to software release 7.4.100.0. Table 4 shows the upgrade path that you must follow before downloading software release 7.4.100.0.

Thanks Scott ; can i upgrade via GUI or it has to be via TFTP
you advice which software version is stable for now
7.2.111.3
7.3.112.0
7.4.100.0
I see this msg while downloading 7.4.100.0
WLC Version 7.4.100.0 will need Prime Infrastructure Version 1.3 to be managed, Version 1.3 is not yet available to download at this point of time

Upgrade is some either using tftp or FTP. There isn't a browse to the image and upload.
Well if you have PI, then I would not go with v7.4 yet. It also depends... If you have 1142's, don't use v7.4. If you have 3600's, don't use v7.3. If you want to use HA, don't do it:). Wait til this is stable and no one complains about it. If you have Windows 8, you will need to use the latest two versions of 7.0 or 7.2 as 7.3 and 7.4 supports Windows 8. Also review this matrix on what is supported on what code.

Is there an issue with 3602s on 7.3 code? I was planning on upgrading from 7.2 to 7.3 this weekend - we have 1142s,1242s,1252s,1262s,2602s and 3602s in the environment

There is an issue with the uni-1 band and the 3600 producing poor coverage due to the algorithm set forth by the FCC. This was fixed in v7.4 but since you have 1142's, well 7.4 I would avoid due to the bug.

Let me ask what the 1142 bug is in 7.? My company is looking at moving to 7.4 in the next couple months once NCS 1.3 is released. I am not overly worried about the 5 Ghz issues as I can move the APs into the other bands where needed.

It should be in the caveats in the release notes.

I've got a number of 1140 running on 7.4.100.0 and I don't see this happening. Must be a production batch.

Might be Leo, but I would rather not take the chance:) I have not upgraded any client that has 1142 to v7.4. I have moved them to 7.3 though.
