Upgrading Access Points

Currently trying to upgrade some access points over a bit of a dodgy WAN.

For my understanding, if a APs is downloading a image from a controller and the connection drops, when it reconnects to the controller will the download of the image start again or resume?

This is on the 9800 platform of controller

Now image is properly verified during download

This of course applies to all versions after IOS-XE 17.13 too.

If the APs are in flexconnect mode, which given dodgy WAN would make that assumption

Ensure that Flexconnect efficent AP download is enabled. this means only one AP (per model) per site tag will download the image and then the other APs in that site tag will download it from that AP rather than accross the WAN.

If all else fails there is always the ability to get the AP image and use SFTP/FTP/ TFTP and a local server and manually download to each AP

Pre-download may not re-start automatically - you might have to initiate again.

If you've already reloaded the WLC then the AP will keep re-trying to download the image.
