Hi,

we are facing a major issue in connecting to two SSIDs(spark and guest)at our office. Clients connects to Spark(SSID) takes very long time usally 10 mins to connect when the machine reboots, sleep or hibernate. it occurs for both Windows and MAC users. How this can be fixed. It is so crictical and clients are frustrated. we tired uncheck the Aironet IE option wlc creates a big outage to wirless and clients were disconnected and reconnects. Is Aironet IE feature strange?

Hi,

Aironet IE contains information, such as the access point name, load, number of associated clients, and so on sent out by the access point in the beacon and probe responses of the WLAN. CCX clients use this information to choose the best access point with which to associate.

My recommandation is to disable it.

Hi Snadeep,

Thank you very much!!! so we have Cisco Jabber client for instant chat and Cisco VIOP phone users at our site, so if we disble it does it affect the performance on existing ???

HI Ramesh,

Yes, Changing WLAN parameters while it is enabled then it will cause the WLAN to be disabled for a moment and thus may result in loss of connectivity for some clients.

Hi ,

So if Aironet IE is enabled will it cause disconnection issue for clients ?

Thanks

Can it possible cause issue with some devices.  Sure it can.  Something that you would need to test yourself in your environment.  I typically leave it disabled especially on a guest network.

Thank you Scott, I waned to say it cause issues for client to  connect to the network ? or it cause issues by having the clients disconnecting randmoly after they are already connected ?

because I have tickets that users connects fine but then they get disconnecting many times randomly during the day , so was wondering if disabling Aironet IE mihgt help here

It’s worth a try. It will not make things worse. This way you can follow up with a user and actually understand if that changes helped or not.

You should gather more information as it can be other things. See if it’s isolated to an SSID, a certain device or NIC, NIC driver, area, etc.

Hi Scott,

got approval to disable Aironet IE , will this is  affect the running mesh network ?

Cheers,

Hello,

Could we know why your recommendation is to disable it? It seems like the Aironet IE information helps to have better connections to the APs, doesn't it?

Kind regards.

Our site installers sometimes ask us to turn it on when doing site surveys because it allows them to see the power level reported by the AP.
