Wi-Fi on the roof ? But which Access Point?

Hello all,

I would like to have your advises, I have to plan Wi-Fi on a roof of a factory, the problem with this is that I am wondering which AP would be the best one ? 1572 ? IW3700 ?

I'd rather get someone to do a proper wireless site planning. This way one can decide what particular model to use, where to put them and how many.

Yes I was expecting this answer, but my problem is we are not allowed to a site survey in the moment, we need to make a 1st proposal, but I was wondering which type of AP, and how to install them regarding the weather conditions (if there is thunder for example)

That's not a problem.

As long as you've got detailed floor map, you can use software, like Ekahau Site Survey, to plan the AP placement.

The floor map must be of scale and provide details to obstacles, like composition of walls.

I already have all the details regarding the map, and we've got Airmagnet as software to make site surveys.

Make a simulation with Airmagnet would be a good idea ? As this software has a good database with many AP's and antennas ?

What do you think about thunder ? Did you already work with these conditions ?

AirMagnet will do fine.

Make sure the network is separated using fibre optic cables.
