Looks like I stand corrected!  Even in v7.4, the config guide says you're supposed to reboot the WLC for SNMPv3 config changes to take effect

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/7.4/configuration/guides/consolidated/b_cg74_CONSOLIDATED_chapter_010110.html#d77398e560a1635

There are lots of ways to reboot a controller.. can you be more specific in what you're trying to achieve and why?

Hi,

Actually i just want to know if we configure SNMP V3 on controller, we need to reboot the controller to take effect ..? or reboot is not required ...?

You do not need to reboot the controller. Just configure it and it works.

Thanks for your reply. But i found this in the below link. So bit confused...

Which controller functions require a reboot?
A. After you perform these functions on the controller, you must reboot the controller in order for the changes to take effect:

      • Enable or disable link         aggregation (LAG)
      • Enable         a feature that is dependent on certificates (such as https and web         authentication)
      • Add         new or modify existing SNMP v3 users
      • Install         a license, change the license feature set, or change the priority of an         AP-count evaluation license on a controller

That document is REALLY old.

I've just logged in to my WLC (v7.4.100.60) and created an SNMPv3 account without any problems at all. And without rebooting ofc.

Even I feel same here. If you could provide me the latest doc would be a great help. Thnaks in advance

Hi, Richard--

The instruction from cisco said you need to reboot the WLC after configured SNMPv3 in the WLC. Please see attachment below.
