It is supported as long as the WLC is running supported version: 16.X.X, up to 17.3.X, from 17.9.3 until 17.12.X.

WLC 9800 OS is Cisco AireOS or XE IOS? In below table seems the CAP3702 is support if the WLC using version 8.10.196.0 max.

3700s are supported to 17.12.4 but limited to 17.3 features. That being said the 3700s are EOL so should be looking to transition them out of the enviroment as TAC will not be able to do RCA on any issues with them.

Noted. When the CAP3720 joined to the C9800 the CAP will download the AP image automatically or should we do upgrade the CAP manually?

will be automatic
however be aware of the Field Notice https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/field-notices/639/fn63942.html as most likely if the AP has not been on a Fixed version it will hit this
