WLC 9800-L-F-K9 config restoration on RMA device

Hello All, Looking for information related to "Restoration of configuration on cisco 9800 controllers where controller fails and you will need to restore its old configuration"

I have cisco 9800-L-F-K9 in HA and failed, i have got the RMA but i don't want to do the manual configuration. I'm lucky enough that i have back-up of "sh tech" and others. Can this be used to push it to the controller without me configuring it manually by entering the configuration?

    - Just import the running-config from the old controller (only)

Hi @marce1000  Thanks for your response.
ok, I have running-config, How can i push it to the new controller from CLI.

  - That's  to basic a question for the forum ; you can not expect to manage these controllers without   such to be known commands ,

you do not need to restore the entire config - you just need to copy basic config and connect to HA  pair all the configuration will sync from Active unit.

Before you connecting the RMA controller -

take the configuration out of the box

Same model - upgrade to same IOS code as active

RMA process for a controller in an HA setup
• Disconnect and remove the standby controller from the HA pair in order to RMA the box.
• Prepare the new 9800 standby with the same configuration as the previous controller. This
means the same software version, licensing level, wireless management interface, login credentials, and SSO configuration including RMI.
• Be sure to set the chassis priority to 1 so that it has a lower priority than the current active
controller. Verify that a higher priority of 2 is set on the current active controller to make
sure that the current active remains the active.
• Save the configuration and power off the new standby controller.
• Physically connect the cables on new standby which includes the uplink ports and redundancy port (RP).
• Power on the new standby controller. The new 9800 controller will pair up as standby with
the current active controller.

Hello @balaji.bandi, Thanks for your response.
I have both primary and secondary unit failed. This should be a fresh config which i need to configure.
I'm looking ways to push the old config to the new devices which manually entering the commands.
Thanks!

Configure basic configuration to get GUI access and restore the config from backup

If both failed then you need to restore active config on active device what should work, Once that is build and working you can join the secondary one later.
