Thanks for maintaining this. Consider putting aireos to ios xe conversion utility in the post so it will turn up in google searches.
How often is this tool updated?

Hi Shankar,
Maybe I missed it but there is no documentation of the steps regarding uploading the converted config file (AireOS -> IOS-XE) to flash on the C9800 platform and then reboot to that newly converted config file. I am still seeing customer letting us know that it's a lot of manual work to do load line-by-line. If you added instructions to this, please share with us the link to the page with the outlined steps/instructions.
Thanks much and appreciate the great work you have done maintaining this page and the tool.

Hello Team,
I have successfully converted file from AireOS to WLC 9800. But after uploading to controller. i am not able to set config file. After executing copy bootflash: running-config> asking for source file and destination filename.
Source file :- translated .cfg
Destination file :- running-config
But the configuration file is reflecting. Need support on this.

Hi Shankar,
Thanks for putting this together. The tool does not seems to work when I tried to convert from AireOS to catalyst 9800 using either
show run-config startup-commands
or
show run-config commands
from a 5508 controller running 8.5.176 version
Could there be an issue with it not accepting this model of controller or I am a missing something?
Thanks in advance for your response
H

What do you mean "the configuration file is reflecting"?
Remember that converted config is NOT a ready to use config. It is simply a basic guide with converted config for some features.
There are some AireOS features which are not supported on IOS-XE at all and there are many features which are not yet converted by the tool.
So use the tool, view the output and use that to build a new config.
I would NOT recommend copying that to your running-config just like that.
The IOS-XE config is very different to AireOS so often it is better to build your config from new - just using the tool output as a guide for some parts.

Agree!!!
Generally, the use-case will be something like this from Design/Migration perspective for AireoOS to IOSXE.
Split one AireOS-WLC(local-mode) into 2-3 vWLC ios-xe(flex-mode).
Merge two or multiple WLC config(different locations) into one or two HA pair.
One WLC, Existing 2 locations(Local, flex) - convert local to flex and keep the flex.
Merge multiple anchor WLC configs or split to few.
Move only 50% of WLANs to new WLC.
Cust moving from different vendor to cisco need to anyway build from scratch.
Just to give an idea -Its a flat/direct one-one conversion tool(Not a Designing tool.) end-user may need to copy/paste the appropriate section based on the requirement.
some examples,
Useful in WLAN, VLAN names, RRM, RF-groups, multicast, mdns.
Edit and use - AAA/Radius, Tacacs, Policy profile, ACLs, tag policy, ap/flex profile.
These anyways require manual intervention - HA, interface IP, Mobility tunnels, WLC's pri/sec/tert names on AP.
Manual-only by default - passwords/keys/secrets/Cert, moving APs to appropriate tags/policy/RF.

Would this work with the embedded WLC on the 9130 APs?

Will this tool work to convert IOS-XE (9800) to AireOS (3504)? If so what is needed to perform this? Thanks.
