6.4 monitor interface

Hello Guys,

I was playing around a little bit with the new ASR9901 running the 6.4 version and I noticed that the command "monitor interface XXX" which previously was showing the packet/byte rate is not available anymore. I have tried to lookup into the documentantion but the "Implementing Performance Management" doesn't list it anymore.

Does somebody know if there is another way to get that output on 6.4? It was pretty handy TBH...

Thank you,

ADP

Do you have the 6.4.1 manageability (MGBL) package installed and active?

I believe this command is part of that.

Hi

What type of interface are you looking at?

This is an output from a router with 6.4.2 and here you have input/output packet per second and kbyte (rate). It has been looking the same in previously releases also.

Hey Peter,

Thanks for checking, I am running 6.4.1 64bit on a 9901 platform and the command is not there for any type of interface...

RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:#monitor ?
  np np packet monitoring(cisco-support)
  processes Show process statistics
  threads Show thread statistics
RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:#

It might be platform depending at this point.. or maybe the 64bit doesn't integrate that feature. On what device have you checked?

Thanks,

ADP

Hi

This is from a 9006 with 32bit ios-xr

RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:router#monitor ?
  controller Display controller statistics
interface Display interface statistics and errors
  np np packet monitoring(cisco-support)
  processes Show process statistics
  threads Show thread statistics
RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:router#show version brief

Checked an ios-xrv 9000 router and the monitor interface command exist there also.

So most likely it's a 64 bit issue where this feature is missing. Seems strange that a hardware platform would miss the function.

Do you have the 6.4.1 manageability (MGBL) package installed and active?

I believe this command is part of that.

Bingo!

That was it, I have installed the asr9k-mgbl-x64-2.0.0.0-r641 rpm and the command is there now!

Many thanks,

ADP
