A9K-8HG-FLEX-FC - Flexible Consumption vs. A9K-8HG-FLEX-SE

We have this module that is listed as A9K-8HG-FLEX-FC per the serial number, however, looking at the physical module the label says A9K-8HG-FLEX-SE and when we test it, it also shows up in the system as A9K-8HG-FLEX-SE

Are there any specific limitations with this product?

Are some ports currently disabled?

Does it need any specific licensing to activate all ports?

Thank you.

that product id is license based on flexible consumption, it is the same card physically as the -SE. you can use all the ports, however only 300 of the 800G will be allowed without an additional license you can refer to this page

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/routers/asr-9000-series-aggregation-services-routers/datasheet-c78-741260.html

Hello @tkarnani ,

Thanks for sharing the doc. sorry to deviate from the actual question, but I have a question with similar area if you can help clarify.

What is difference between Advantage/Essentials vs ASR 9000 Advance IP license?

we are running 7.10.2 with "ASR9K-x64-iosxr-px-k9-7.10.2.tar" package on A9K-RSP5-X-SE and have A99-4HG-FLEX-SE LCs installed. We were provided with Advance IP license that we installed but still getting the Not Authorized under license Authorization. while checking under show license summary, we see we are not using this Advanced IP license but using Advantage and Essentials license and that are not authorized. Looking to see if we got the wrong license installed and need the different one (may be "ADN-ED-400G-RTU1", that I found from the above link) or we need both licenses.

License Authorization:
Status: NOT AUTHORIZED

License Usage:
License Entitlement Tag Count Status
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
(ADV-SE-100G-RTU-1) 2 NOT AUTHORIZED
(ESS-SE-100G-RTU-1) 3 NOT AUTHORIZED
ASR 9000 Advance IP ... (S_A9K_4HG_AIP_SE) 0 NOT IN USE

Thank you

under registration of "show license summary" you will need to check if this device is registered with the portal

for example; Status: REGISTERED - SPECIFIC LICENSE RESERVATION

then the 2nd step would be to add the tokens in the portal to register the device

--

sh license platform detail, will show you the ports that are consuming these licenses to check whether or not the features are correctly being accounted for

Thanks, I guess for us, we have purchased the AIP (Perpetual license) and we applied that on router, but on license status, its getting un authorized status with Subscription based ESS/ADV licenses. Is there a way to say disable Subscription based license and just use Perpetual license?

Thank you for this information and the link.

Can you please confirm the license part number that is needed to activate the throughput of this -FC module from 300G to 800G

Also, is this an RTU type license or it will specifically increase the bandwidth of this module?

there are a few variables here, the # of 100G ports and the feature set that is on these ports

then the feature set depending on the scale can be essential or advanced

it would be best to open a case to get an accurate answer https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/licensing/licensing-support.html
