ASR9000 RSP Maximum Switching Capacity

Hello,

I want to validate if the ASR9010 with RSP880 is able to handle eight (8) 8x100 Linecards at line rate. My confusion is because I'm not sure if the 880Gbps is the limit of the switch fabric on the RSPs, so having the chassis full of 8x100Linecard will give me around 6.4Tbps of traffic.

Thanks in advanced,

Jacobo

Hi,

check out this screenshot or just find the Cisco Live BRKARC-2003 presentation.

I think that you have 450+450 (8x115G) per slot with dual RSP880 in ASR9010.

with dual RSP880 it's actually 8x115Gbps (=920Gbps) per LC slot. We can send more than 800Gbps to each slot so that the egress NP can make a proper QoS decision in case of output interface congestion.

I believe those 880Gbps are per line card slot (in non-redundant mode):

Hi Jacobo,

As I know with a single RSP880 you will have 460Gbps/LC  4x115Gbps links per LC, so for a 8x100G LC to run in line rate you will need dual RSP880 in your ASR9010 chassis.

With dual RSP880 you will have 920Gbps/LC, 8x115Gbps links per LC.

Thanks so it seems that a ASR9010 with dual RSP880 has a composite switch fabric handle 6.4 Tbps to have 800Gbps line rate per linecard, right?
