BGP Support for IP Prefix Import from Global IOS-XR

Hi Guys,

on IOS I found the following restriction/limitation when importing route into a VRF from global routing table (GRT)

• IPv4 prefixes imported into a VRF using this feature cannot be imported into a VPNv4 VRF

from

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/ios-xml/ios/iproute_bgp/configuration/xe-3s/irg-xe-3s-book/bgp_support_for_ip_prefix_import_from_global_table_into___.pdf

So if i have a MPLS/VPN i cannot import a route from GRT in one site and have the route trasported via MP-BGP in the other sites.

Do you know if the same restriction apply to IOS-XR also?

Regards

Alessandro

IOS XR can do this, there's a "advertise-as-vpn" knob to the import from-default feature.

Hi Alexander,

thanks for your kindly reply.

The problem is not how to implement importing routes from GRT to VRF but imported route are not propagate over the VPN in case og MPLS/VPN.

IOS does not allow and i was wondering about IOS-XR.

I'm going to test it.I will let you know

IOS XR can do this, there's a "advertise-as-vpn" knob to the import from-default feature.

How about IOS XE?

I have a similar scenario, I've imported a global route into a VRF, but it does not get propagated to vrf's with matching Route Targets in my IOS XE example.
