Hi,
We intend to deploy ASR-9010-SYS using DC power.
Day 1 hardware configuration typically consists of 2xRSP-880-SE, 2xMOD-160, FAN-V2. This configuration will grow in coming months and we may add 4x100G / 8x100G line cards to this router system.
We have option of either using PWR-2KW-DC-V2 or PWR-4.4KW-DC-V3
I understand that having the above configuration, we will need either 3xPWR-2KW-DC-V2 or 2xPWR-4.4KW-DC-V3 for n+1 power redundancy.
Wanted to understand how these two DC power modules are different.
We have experience on 2.1KW, but none for 4.4KW
If my understanding is correct: 2.1KW had 2 input feeds, and they work in active / standby mode. Hence only 2KW power drawn per module.
Is it that with the 4.4KW module both the input feeds are working in active/active mode? Hence drawing complete 4.4KW of power per module.
If there is a document detailing the mechanism, please point me there.
Thanks :)

Hello Anand,
The difference is that for V3, we have two inputs which contribute 2.2kW each to get the 4.4kW output.
Your understanding seems correct.

Hello Sameer:
Can we use both Power Modules in the same ASR9010 Chassis?
Thanks

Hi,
I highly doubt that this is possible because the Power Entry modules are different.
You have A9K-AC-PEM-V3 and A9K-AC-PEM-V2.
In
If possible go with v3 because of future upgrades on the chassis.

Hello,
And if I use PEM-V2 for 2.2kW and PEM-V3 for 4.4kW in the same chassis. Is it an option? Will work?
I want to use this scenario only by a while in a migration process in ASR9100 to replace PEM-V2 for PEM-V3 without shutdown all chassis.
I want to replace those as follow:
Actual: Power Tray 1 – PEM-V2 – with 2xPWR-2KW-DC-V2
Power Tray 0 – PEM-V2 – with 2xPWR-2KW-DC-V2
Step 1: Shutdown Power Tray 1 to replace with PEM-V3/PM and power-on. Both PEM and Power Modules can be active at the same time??
Power Tray 1 – PEM-V3 – with 1xPWR-4.4KW-DC-V3
Power Tray 0 – PEM-V2 – with 2xPWR-2KW-DC-V2
Step 2: Shutdown Power Tray 0 to replace with PEM-V3/PM and power-on.
Power Tray 1 – PEM-V3 – with 1xPWR-4.4KW-DC-V3
Power Tray 0 – PEM-V3 – with 1xPWR-4.4KW-DC-V3
Thank you for your answers and comments!!

You got me here. My knowledge about this part is limited.
I hope that someone from Cisco can help you out.
My recommendation is to have a maintenance window so you can shut down the chassis and replace the PEMs and PS.

Different PEM types in the same chassis are not supported. Migrating from PEM-v2 to PEM-v3 requires a power down of the chassis.
