NCS540 QoS design issue in case of different service/physical speed
imagine a triple-play (voice, video/multicast, internet/unicast) service you need to transport over 1 Gig physical link, but you have purchased only 500Mbps bandwidth for transport. You do not want to exceed the purchased bandwidth (500Mbps), but in case of no multicast traffic flow, you want to use all available bandwidth (up to 500Mbps) for internet traffic. You need to achieve this behavior on NCS540 platform, where multicast is not controlled by output policy map. I can imagine to police the multicast on ingress interface, but do not know how to achieve tracking of multicast traffic flow on egress interface by unicast traffic shaper, so that the total traffic (multicast plus unicast ) will not exceed the purchased bandwidth in egress direction.

loadbalancing is one of the more complex items in hardware forwarding. of course we have talked about it many years on cisco live (id 2904) with ever incrementing more detail. and there is the support forum article on loadbalancing.
