Upgrading from IOS to XR and XR to XR on redundant RP

Hi

While upgrading platforms with redundant RP from

1. IOS to XR

2. XR to XR

should the RP be treated separately and upgraded individually and then brought to sync or any other recommended method is there?

Hi Ramya,

I assume you talk about 12000

XR to XR >> automatically synced. The upgrade procedure takes care of it.

IOS to XR >> is more complex procedure and there is some work to be done from rommon of both RPs. There is the complete procedure

That is cool. The procedure is simple.

Upgrade the primary RP using turbo boot if moving from IOS or just adding pie files if moving from XR. Then connect console to the backup RP and do the following

12.    unset BOOT

13. unset TURBOBOOT

14. sync

15. reset

16. set

17. boot tftp://server-address/path/bootfile or boot ftp://username:[password]@server-address/bootfile for this use the mbiprp-rp.vm-x.x.x file
