We have a situation where the status of a jabber user is not always being seen correctly by others. When we view the status of a user from the other person's perpestive when accessing the users status on the server "from perspective of user xxxxx" it is correct however on the user xxxx jabber client they see an incorrect status.
What can we do to see the status on the users device? How can we see where the "status" fails? Would wireshark help, would this see the "presence". Since the incorrect status is being pushed to the client , I'm thinking a network type issue, even FW

If the issue is just for one user then I would look at the end user and device configuration on CUCM. Make sure:

It is a few users, what I'm after is almost a process to follow as the 1st response is cisco issue so I'm seeing what I can do to prove/disprove it

I am having same issue with one of customer and I posted it in the support forum in another thread. I tried almost of the troubleshooting steps outlined in different documents but no luck. Finally opened a TAC case and still working on it.
may I know your jabber client version ?

We are on 11.5 but I don't think it is version related as I saw it on 10.5 version as well

Ok. It happened to us when we upgraded the client to 12.9.4. I
I referred to the Cisco Live document to troubleshoot the presence message flow. Please find the reference if it helps you. Troubleshooting Jabber Like a TAC Engineer - BRKUCC 3347
Never tried Wireshark to troubleshoot the presence issue. Please update how it goes from your end.

We have the same issue here with CUCM 12.5.1.14900-63 and Jabber v14.0.1 / v14.0.2, but also with older Versions.
Offline Users appear as online and vice versa. Others appear as available while being on a call.
Presence Servers were restarted a few days ago.
Disabling and re-enabling presence for the affected Users sometimes helps.
In other cases moving the User to the other server and back helps.
But sometimes nothing works except rebooting the presence servers. But the issue reappears after x days.
Do we have to reboot the IM & Presence servers on a daily basis???
