Hi,
on my W7 x64 machine SparkWindows 2.0.5719.0 causes 17% svchost constant usage. Digging deeper, this svchost instance runs several processes and one of them is the Windows Desktop Manager UxSms responsible for the Aero GUI overlays, i believe:
- stopping UxSms causes SparkWindows to spike to 25%/1 full (virtual) core
- killing SparkWindows (before stopping UxSms or either with it running) causes cpu getting back to normal background levels
It clearly indicates issues in the way the Spark exe interworks with the OS Windows Desktop Manager/Aero process.
Spark exe itself anyway consumes 5-15% cpu at rest, just after svchost instance above.
Anyone saw this? I hav McAfee MCShield too, for what it matters.
Thx

Windows says to me that I have the latest driver, and the Web gives me the last driver is version 15.xxx (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/88355/Intel-HD-Graphics-520) (not an official Intel driver ? a compatible one from Microsoft ?)

For me latest Intel for HD 5500 was the same, 15.xxx. However it was not installing correctly. So i went through a reinstall of the latest Lenovo package and it fixed the issue, then updated manually with the Intel 15.xxx package

Intel package not installing I'll try the HP One
07-24-2017 03:33 AM
I like :
- last version : 15.xxx
- Previous version : 20.xx
It's a joke ?
07-24-2017 03:37 AM
Downloaded File version 15.40.4483 Rev.F
And the installer says that :
"Installation du pilote"
Version : 20.19.15.4483
Big joke... Where's the camera ?
07-24-2017 03:44 AM
Same... Spark around 10% of CPU usage after few seconds... and Fan +++

Sorry for you does not solve the issue. For me i am sure it was the Intel graphics driver, as background threads running continuously in 'ig8icd64!DrvValidateVersion’ showed up in process dump

How do I know which process runs as background ? I've made a dump of the process, but the dump make 600Mb ^^
Any idea ?

You need a debugger to look at the SparkWindows.exe DMP file

Still had the same issue, I tried to remove the app from Windows and reinstall it...
Seems to be ok right now !
CPU around 0%...
Let's wait some few days !

Ok but CPU is back à 10% high and fan exciting since the app auto update in last version
Version : 2.0.6199.0

Hi,
I finally found a workaround, because any update of Intel driver don't work on my HP laptop...
So I have disabled aero service, and now, it's ok, but without any visual effect of windows :/
In french : "Gestionnaire de sessions du Gestionnaire de fenêtrage" is now disabled.

Cisco is working on a solution. However, it will take longer because the new solution is not yet on the beta channel. The issue number is 10891.
The last Intel driver I was able to install on my HP EliteBook 840 G1 with Windows 7 64 Bit was Version 15.36. It comes with a "Intel HD Graphics Family". I had to download the ZIP from Intel and install it manually. A good tutorial can be found here.
The Intel driver version 15.36 did not solve the problem.
As recommended by Jerome, I then chose a non-Aero design as a workaround.
