You can now play Zork in Cisco Spark. Add adventure@sparkbot.io to a Spark room, or start a direct conversation with it, and you’ll be invited to play the classic text adventure game Zork: The Great Underground Empire - Part I.

Each room you add the bot to is a different game of Zork. All the participants of the room can play the game together.

The bot also has SMS support through Tropo. If you’re in the US, you can play Zork over text message by texting something to +1-844-373-9675. Outside the US, try +1-541-936-9675, but this has a lower capacity and may not work as well during busy times. In either case, your carrier's normal text or data rates apply.

Next week, we’ll explain how the bot works, show some code, and walk through some of the helpful user interface things you can do in your own bot.

You are carrying:  a MacBook Pro loaded with Cisco Spark, viscous material, a leaflet, a bird's nest, a sceptre, a pot of gold, a large emerald, a painting, a bloody axe.

Queue 80s music, see you in a week....

Is the Zork bot broken?

Nope, working fine. Make sure you are mentioning the bot when talking to it, otherwise it doesn’t see your messages.

Thanks, Adam.

I have Zork in a 1:1 space, so @mentions aren’t possible I guess.

No mention needed in a 1:1. I’m talking to it now and it’s working fine. Make sure you’re talking to the right app: adventure@spartbot.io. It’s possible there’s a bot registered for a similar name with a typo and so you’re talking to the wrong thing, I guess.

Hello,

Is the BOT still working? Tried in a room as wel as a 1:1 bit it does not seem to reply. Do get the welcome message and all but no replies when talking to it in the 1:1 or the @Adventure: in the group. All other bots seem to work fine. Double-checked and it is adventure@sparkbot.io that I'm talking to.

Thank you,

Ralf.

It was failing to respond in some spaces. It's fixed now and you should be able to use it 1:1 or in a group space.

Seems to be broken again Adam - is that accurate?

The bot is not responding to mentions or direct messages. Any updates on a fix?
