Disable SSL in SocialMiner

Hi,

Is there anyway to disable the SSL in socialminer?

I have searched online but couldn't find anything useful.

Basically i want to disable the SSL, so i can access it with http://socialminerlocal instead of https://socialminerlocal.

Because this is for testing only so i want to remove the "untrusted certificate warning" pop-up that came up if user enters the web.

Hi Edward,

Can you please try with Default port non ssl (3268 for non-SSL) and Uncheck the check box on Administration tab > System Administration panel > Active Directory - The Use SSL check box is now checked by default.

Hi Geevarghese,

It doesn't work, as you cannot enter the socialminer by http://SOCIALMINERSERVER:3268 , you can only enter by using https://SOCIALMINERSERVER.

Btw, the SSL setting in activedirectory is unchecked, and i don't think this has anything to do with whether you want to access socialminer using SSL or not.

I want the user to be able to access it using http:// only, as we will use it in our INTRANET environment, so SSL is not required for our organization.

Hi The only configuration related to SSL that i can find is in the Administration -- Platform Administration -- Cisco Unified Operating System Administration, then Security -- Certificate Management, then click find.

There is a tomcat.pem certificate in the first result, which i believe is the SSL Certificate using by the tomcat webserver.

But there is no way to delete/disable the SSL.

Hi Edward,

       Is it possible to try with Self-Signed Certificates. On the same page above its mentioned as note  that

SocialMiner should only need to access a proxy server if it sits behind a corporate network firewall and has to use an http or https proxy server for accessing an outside network. You should not need to give SocialMiner a private NAT address, and doing so is not currently supported.

Hi Geevarghese,

By default, the self-signed certificate is enabled, and i am able to login to social miner successfully (despite of the untrusted certificate warning in the browser that i had to add to exception, since it's not third party signed certificate).

So, how i access to my social miner is by :

1. entering https://192.168.1.1 (for example)

2. browser prompts up the security warning,

3. I add that into exception, so i can continue logging in

My INITIAL GOAL is i want to disable the https, so that i can access the social miner by entering http://192.168.1.1 from my browser.

The reason being is i am customizing the reply template and i host it on the different server, so when i click reply on one of the social contact, this will open my customized reply template website in iframe which is hosted on different server (e.g. 192.168.1.2).

Since SocialMiner (192.168.1.1) is in https, browser demands everything in https also, including when i'm communicating from the 192.168.1.2.  In my scenario, i cannot enable https on my 192.168.1.2 because of one or other reason. Hence, the browser blocked the request because it's considered a MIXED CONTENT.

So, it's either all parties in HTTPS, or all parties in HTTP mode. And i'm going with the latter one as it removes all the complexities with the ssl thing. I want to disable the SSL completely, so that when the browser can loads my reply template on 192.168.1.2. And i cannot find a way to disable the SSL in the SocialMiner tomcat.

I hope my scenario is pretty clear, and my problem now is how do i disable the SSL in social miner, so i can access it just using http://192.168.1.1
