UCCX 7.0 - SingleNode-Access the SQL db_cra

Hi,

We have a stand alone UCCX version 7.0 with SQL MSDE. To facilitate some form of custom reporting, the Business wants us to provide a read only access to the underlying db_cra so that they will just perform a bunch of Select statements to reacd the data. Now, my question is what kind of SQL account should I be creating on the UCCX box so that the DBA will be able to directly do a Select only to read all the data. The DBA says, he only needs a ready only previledge to do so.Do I create a windows user account, add to the group Users Or do I have to create an End user on the CM that might help in this task?

Also, the DBA says, there would be no need for me to do any sort of OBDC connection to achieve the above.

Any inputs on this would be helpful.

I do not know.  You're DBA should be able to tell you that.  Afterall, they're a DBA and we're just voice people.

Also, I understand from the above links that if I do change the auth mode in the registry, I have to make sure to change the auth mode to 2 in the hrcConfig.ini file on all the client machines that have the HRC client installed.

Well, to clarify, you change the authmode in the registry to 2, and the auth mode in the hrcConfig.ini to 1.  And the HRC change has to be manually, everytime you install a new client, or ugrade a client.

Would this change also impact real-time reporting on the CAD or CSD?

No it will not impact real-time reporting on CAD or CSD.

Lastly, note that as soon as you upgrade to UCCX 8x or 9x, this all changes quite a bit.  Though, one good thing is, the BD schema stays the same.

Good luck and happy reporting!

Thanks Anthony for consolidating all the links!

Hey no problem, I'm happy to help.  Also, your DBA will be interested in the Reporting Developer guide.

Ok, One more question on the Auth mode. The DBA was not able to connect to the db_cra using windows authentication. So, he requested that I change it to SQL authentication. Are there any risks in terms of security by changing the auth mode?

Also, I understand from the above links that if I do change the auth mode in the registry, I have to make sure to change the auth mode to 2 in the hrcConfig.ini file on all the client machines that have the HRC client installed. Would this change also impact real-time reporting on the CAD or CSD?

Thanks,

DM
