Are there any 3rd party softphone out there that can be used with Teams as a plugin but setup to register to CUCM?
We tested the Jabber plugin but our users didn't like it much. Wanted to see if there was something else out there.

You can use Webex as your call client and it would be in replacement of Jabber as it uses the same configuration element in CM. There are ongoing work in the beta program to have the calling UI of the Teams integration for Webex to be nimbler. Not sure if this would be better liked by your users, but it’s an option on the table.

“Used with teams” is going to be the cross-launch experience; it’s still a separate app running locally on the user’s machine. The improvements Roger alludes to are focused on making the Webex app lighter weight (ie less RAM usage) and mostly headless, relegated to the system tray except for the call control window. More of the UI (eg voicemail and call history) would appear within MSFT Teams.
I believe Cisco has said publicly that they explored WebRTC but it’s not viable with how MSFT Teams currently works: it gets torn down as soon as the user navigates elsewhere in the app. As in the user couldn’t chat while on a call.
