Hi,
We need to buy 4321 V/K9 router for 2 Port T1/E1, where we are terminating 2 PRI lines.
So for 2Port T1/E1 we need to buy 64 PVDM4. Also, for conference, transcoding etc we need another 64 PVDM4. This option will be bit costlier.
Can we buy 128 PVDM4 inserted on T1/E1 (instead of 2 X 64 PVDM4). This option will costly bit less.
So, out of 128 PVDM4 - 64 PVDM4 will be used by T1/E1 and remaining 64 PVDM4 can it be configured for Conference and transcoding ?? Will the IOS allow to use remaining or unused PVDM4 on T1/E1 to be configured for conference and transcoding??
Pls suggest.

Yes You can share the remaining resource in Nim PVDM for features like transcording, conferencing etc..
But the mother board resources Cannot be used for ISDN.
Btw isr 4K is getting eos this November and 8200/8300 routers will be the replacement.

Hi,
Apart from what Nithin said.
Normally, you don't need to buy extra PVDMs for the PRI-Card, they should be already pre-installed on the card itself. But maybe you have to check this during the order.
You only need extra PVDMs for media ressources like conf bridge, transcoder, ...

If the pvdm is bundled with router they comes installed on the mother board.
Cisco will ship router with pvdm inserted on NIM if you choose PVDM under Nim card on CCW

@Nithin Eluvathingal Thanks for the info. Maybe I should have made "CCIE Licensing and Ordering" as well ';)'
