Hi, I have a number of Cisco 7940G phones running the sip protocol, joining to a 3CX PBX.
Currently, when you choose the External Directory, only 32 entries are displayed. There are 150 entries in my 3CX Company Phonebook.
All these entries are listed correctly on another phone on the network, my Cisco SPA303. So the XML file is not corrupt, the phone is limited to 32 entries.
The firmware version is:
image_version: "P0S3-8-9-00"
Is there a fix for this, or would a firmware update fix this?

7940 phones will only display 32 entries, you need to add a more softkey that will page through your entries 32 at a time.
Do you just have a single xml file with all your entries in or are you generating your xml via an asp file.

Hi Graham,
I have a single xml with all entries (about 100 entries i think it is)
Currently when you open the external directory and get to the bottom, when you select more it briefly says 'contacting tftp server" then nothing happens, as if the key needs to be programmed to do it.
If you could give me some guidance on how to set that up that would be great.

You will need to write an application that handles correct the "more" button.
You can refer to the phone API to do that.
Note, if you can consider using Cisco CME instead of a third party call control. Beside a working directory on the phones, that will deliver much better features and improved user expereince.
