Hello,
I've looked through some of the existing discussions related to the phones being stuck whilst upgrading. I've tried the available suggestions, but I think I've truly bricked a couple of my expensive lab phones :(. Here's some details. Note: all the while, the phone in ping-able.
Any pointers/help would be appreciated. Should've got a smartnet for these!

DHCP is fine (scope on CUCM, giving out correct tftp details)

Most times issues like this is caused by the wrong term65.default.loads. This file is different for each phone firmware even though the filename is the same. There is no way you will know which term65.default.loads the server is requesting..So the safe thing to do is this..
What firmware is the phone on, what firmware is on the cucm server the phone is trying to register to. If your cucm server is runing 9.X and your phone is on firmware less than 8.5 then it wont work. You need to first of all upgrade to 8.5 before going to 9.X.
So I suggest you install firmware 8.5 on your server first, then see what happens

Thanks aokanlawon!
I finally managed to get the phones back to life with the oldest SCCP firmware available (8.3.2) , using TFTD32 with its built-in dhcp server.

Hello Everyone,
I'm trying to downgrade a Cisco 7965 to 8.3.5 but the term65 is not getting to the next step. If I use the most recent firmware it comes up to a point but the question marks don't come up for a pickup handset and login prompt but this will not work on the platform I'm using. 8.3.5 is the recommended firmware. Any thoughts.
