Adding new Device Cisco 8832 CUCM

Hello,

I am looking to getting the Device Type added to our Cisco CUCM. I went and downloaded the COP file from Cisco Repo and went to the Cisco OS Admin and did install/upgrade. I got a sucess and rebooted the tftp service.

However I do not see the device type still. Do I need to update the device package or I'm i missing something?

Currently I am on version: 11.5.1.11900-26

I have downloaded the device package "Cisco Unified Communications Manager 11.5(1.24166) Device Package - Compatible UCM Version: 11.5"

If i need to update the device package will it have any immediate effect on phones/devices after doing the device package update?

You need to install a device package to get new device type(s) added as it requires updates to the database structure. There is no immediate effect once installing a device package. Just make sure that you check whatever firmware you’re using for each device type before you install it and then verify if there is anything that is downgraded. If so change the firmware listed in the device default page back to the value it had previously.

Installing a phone firmware COP wont add phone type. For that you must install the device package. Make sure you read the read me guide before installing. device package installation provide database and firmware updates for CUCM. As  @Roger Kallberg mentioned note down the firmware used by your phones and if the default firmware has been changed after the installation and if you would like to use the same old firmware change them on the device defaults.

As mention up there, you need to install the device package to update and add the missing device type

So follow the below two links to which contain all the steps needed for that:

Note: do forget to check the compatibility with your Call Manager version
