Is there an iPhone app that lets the iPhone act as a Cisco Ip phone in proxy mode?
On a related note - any similar available for Blackberry?

I don't think there is anything like that.
It's good enough that they can work as a (mostly basic) phone.

Too bad. Maybe I'll take a look at Lync on the iPhones..

Jabber provides a number of capabilities across a variety of devices...the link you provided is basically an overview similar to the following:

You can register the Jabber client on a mobile device as a SIP phone with CUCM, leverage mobility features, access corporate directory, and etc.
