Background Selections Unavailable, yet TFTP debug finds file?

I am configuring custom backgrounds for my 7975. I have created the Desktops/320x216x16 directory on flash. In there I have put List.xml, the thumbnail and the fullsize image. I have tftp-server flashed all three files with an alias, double checked all spelling and capitilisation etc, I press settings - user preferences - background images on the phone, and get "Selections Unavailable", yet my tftp debug shows this:

*Dec 16 10:37:37.933 GMT: TFTP: Looking for Desktops/320x216x16/List.xml

*Dec 16 10:37:37.937 GMT: TFTP: Opened flash:/Desktops/320x216x16/7975-List.xml, fd 10, size 411 for process 405

*Dec 16 10:37:37.941 GMT: TFTP: Finished flash:/Desktops/320x216x16/7975-List.xml, time 00:00:00 for process 405

Here are my tftp-server flash commands:

tftp-server flash:/Desktops/320x216x16/7975-List.xml alias Desktops/320x216x16/List.xml

tftp-server flash:/Desktops/320x216x16/AquaTN.png alias Desktops/320x216x16/AquaTN.png

tftp-server flash:/Desktops/320x216x16/Aqua7975.png alias Desktops/320x216x16/Aqua7975.png

Here is my XML file named 7975-List.xml:

<CiscoIPPhoneImageList>

<ImageItem Image="TFTP:Desktops/320x216x16/AquaTN.png"

URL="TFTP:Desktops/320x216x16/Aqua7975.png"/>

</CiscoIPPhoneImageList>

And yes, I can ping everything and get a 100% success rate on all returns. What am I doing wrong?

Nic.

The XML file should just be named "List.xml". Try with renaming that file to the proper name.

Also look at this URL for more information on how to setup a custom background image on a 7975. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/7975g/6_1/english/administration/guide/7975cst.html#wp1088046

Hi

It looks to me like the phone is getting the list.xml file OK - you can see the router sending it, and although the actual file has a different name on flash it is aliased to the correct name.

Usually if the phone gets the XML but then fails, it means that the XML isn't correctly formatted. It looks OK to me though - maybe try removing any whitespace between the elements and at the start and end.

Hi Aaron,

Yes this is correct. The reason I am aliasing, is because I have several different phone types, all needing a List.xml file for custom backgrounds. If I try and upload several files, even in different directories, with the same name, it doesn't seem to like it in my experience, and won't even accept the tftp-server flash command, saying "a file with the name List.xml is already being served, command retained" hence why I have used this workaround.

I have removed the whitespace as suggested and reloaded the file, and still the same. Looks for XML, finds XML, finishes XML, displays No Selections. I have also tried redoing the cnf-files, rebooting the phone, rebooting the router, nothing.

I am completely confused and have no idea what to try next.

According to the first one you should not need to use any alias for the tftp statements. A note, the path mentioned in the first link is for a 7970, the second link contains the correct path for the 7975.

There is also a section about the error you see.
