Best way to implement a roll over

John Huthmaker

I need to configure one of our receptionist phones to do a roll over if no one answers.  What is the most efficient way to do that?

Basically we need our main number to dial in to extension 3612.  That part I know how to do.  After that though we want the call to roll over to 3615 if no one answers.  Then if no one answers at 3615 we want it to roll in to voicemail.

My basic guess was to use the Call Forward No Answer option on 3612.  However, after it rolls over, who's voicemail would it go in to; 3612 or 3615?

Also, is there a better way to do this with some sort of hunt group?

Any help is always greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
John

Since its just one number you are doing a CFWD to, then you can just use cwfd no answe. If you want it to roll to more than one numbers you should use a hunt group..

so you will configure it like this..

3612 ------Cfwd noan---3615---cfwd noan--VM.

When the call goes to VM, it will go to the mailbox of 3612.

I did CFNA on 3612 to roll to 3615.  However, when no one answered it ended up in 3615's voicemail.  How can I get it to roll back to the 3612 voicemail?

What is this parameter in CUC set to:

**Use Last (Rather than First) Redirecting Number for Routing Incoming Call**

Cisco Unity Connection Administration -->  Advanced (towards the bottom of the page) --> Conversation Configuration

John,

What system are you using? CUCM or CCME..What voicemail do you have Unity Connection or CUE...The default behaviour for CUCM and Unity connection is that it will use the first redirecting number..In this case 6612..The default behaviour for CCME and CUE is that it will use the last redirecting number in which case 6615...

Actually it is full Call Manager and Unity.  Although its versions 7.1

In that Case your system most likely is setup to use the last redirecting number...You can check the setting as chris described here........

"What is this parameter in CUC set to:

**Use Last (Rather than First) Redirecting Number for Routing Incoming Call**

Cisco Unity Connection Administration -->  Advanced (towards the bottom of the page) --> Conversation Configuration "

If the little box is ticked you need to untick it if you want it to use the first redirecting number

Hi John,

Wanted to add a note to the excellent info from Chris and Deji (+5 each )

You mention Unity 7.1, but I don't believe Unity ever was released in

a 7.1 version. 7.0.2 and the corresponding ES's were the only 7.x Unity

builds. You may actually run Unity Connection and not Unity as they are

two very different animals

As both Chris and Deji noted, if the forward no answer from 3612 to 3615

and then to VM does not end up back in the 3612 mailbox then you are

not running in a "default" config and you will need to change the behavior as noted.

***But be careful....if this setting was changed from the default at some point in time

then there must have been a reason and changing it back to accomplish this new

requirement may well break something else.***

If you are running Unity the change for "Last redirecting Number" is available in Unity 5.x and above.

This option  can be changed through the Advanced Settings Tool (AST), which is  available in Tools Depot.

Cheers!

Rob (+5) Excellent point. When I read the reply I thought oh its unity, he needs the Advanced setting tool to change that but then I  lost that thought because I am so used to unity connection 7.1 that I forgot about unity.. Thanks Rob!
