Hi Guys,

We are encountering an issue with BLF Speed Dial pickup and the error that we are receiving is "Temporary Failure" when the  two IP Phone belongs to different Pickup group and "Key is not active" if phone A has a pickup group while phone B doesn't have a pickup group(None).

Call Setup 1:

Phone A has a DN of 601 and belongs to Pickup group - Secretary

Phone B has a DN of 603 and no pickup group

-When Phone B(DN 603) received a call, BLF SD in Phone A(DN 601) will received this alert and once we click the BLF SD line button to pickup the call of Phone B(DN 603), we will just received a prompt/notification on Phone A "Key is not active".

Call Setup 2:

Phone A has a DN of 601 and belongs to Pickup group - Secretary

Phone B has a DN of 603 and belongs to Pickup group - Manager

-When Phone B(DN 603) received a call, BLF SD in Phone A(DN 601) will received this alert and once we click the BLF SD line button to pickup the call of Phone B(DN 603), it will become busy tone and we will just received a prompt/notification on Phone A "Temporary Failure".

Call Setup 3:

When Phone A and Phone B belongs to same pickup group.

Phone A has a DN of 601 and belongs to Pickup group - Secretary

Phone B has a DN of 603 and belongs to Pickup group - Secretary

-We are able to pickup the call using BLF Speed Dial.

Subscribe CSS is properly configured.

Does BLF Speed Dial pickup feature requirement is to have phones are on the same pickup group so that it will work? Appreciate your inputs.

Thank you,

Hi,

Cisco IP  Phones provide three types of call pickup: call pickup, group call pickup and other group call pickup.

Call pickup—Allows users to pick up incoming calls within their own group. Cisco CallManager automatically dials the appropriate call pickup group number when the user activates this feature from a Cisco IP Phone. Use the softkey, Pickup, for this type of call pickup.

This is the third scenario which is working for you.

Group call pickup—Allows users to pick up incoming calls in another group. User must dial the appropriate call pickup group number when activating this feature from a Cisco IP Phone. Use the softkey, GPickup, for this type of call pickup.

Other group call pickup—Allows users to pick up incoming calls in a group that is associated with their own group. The Cisco CallManager automatically searches for the incoming call in the associated groups to make the call connection when the user activates this feature from a Cisco IP Phone. Use the softkey, OPickup, for this type of call pickup.

The other two scenarios are not as per and of the call Pickup configuration requirements, please configure as per the features and services guide

Hi Manish,

Do you mean that BLF Speed Dial can only work if the two phones belong to same pickup group? Which is the call setup/scenario 3?

Since when configuring the BLF Speed Dial, the only option there is Call Pickup only and there is no Group Call Pickup and Other Group Call Pickup.

Hi,

Please check the following post for similar query

Thanks Manish.

So it means that we cannot really use different call pickup group when using BLF Speed Dial.

This also explain our testing scenarios above.

Thanks again
