Changing Automated Message

We recently removed the voicemail boxes for our users. However, now when a user is unavailable the caller gets an automated message saying something along the lines of "Hello, Cisco Unity Connection Messaging System. From a touch tone telephone you may dial an extension at any time, for a directory of extensions press 4, otherwise hold for the operator".

Is there a way of changing this message so that it informs the caller that the user is unavailable or even a way of completely removing this message so that the caller gets a unavailabe/engaged tone? If so, how do I go about doing this?

To remove this message for these users remove call forwarding setting from
user DN in cucm. This way caller gets engaged tone if user isn't available

Thank you. Does the job!

Great. **** Please remember to rate useful posts and mark answered questions

you can change the default greeting by replacing;
Call Management > System Call Handlers > Opening Greeting > Edit > Greetings > Standard
but it, not the best practice and not recommended
.
Alternatively, you can achieve similar by below steps;
1. Create a new call handler and associated voice-enabled Directory Handler.
2. Record your own greeting
3. Set this as your default for routing within CUC.

or you may follow below URL which gives detailed steps to configure a common Greeting like Welcome Message before every user's or Call Handler's Greeting.
