Changing PC Port

I need to change the PC Port setting on, literally, thousands of phones but this parameter is not available in Bulk changes. Any ideas on how to make this change in batches of phones based on MAC?

Here is the solution we came up with:

Gather the list of MAC addresses with SEP that require the change and save to a .txt file with a header of DEVICE NAME.                 Upload the file to UCM as a Phones, Update Custom File                                                                                                                 Use Update Phones, Custom file to select the .txt file                                                                                                                        Determine the item to change and save to the scheduler

You can do that using IMPORT/EXPORT option

  • Configure PC port settings on one or two phones.
  • Export all the phones using Import/Export. This will create a TAR file.
  • Use 7Zip to extract the folder from the TAR file. You will see a header.txt file and a phone CSV file.
  • Open the phone CSV file using Excel and edit the XML field on the phone you need to  modify . Save it in the same folder.
  • Use 7Zip to create a TAR file that contains the header.txt file and the phone CSV file.
  • Import the TAR file to CUCM and make sure you select the option to override existing configurations.

Create a Common Phone Profile that includes this setting. You can apply a Common Phone Profile through standard BAT means.

Alternately, if you want it to be a system-wide setting you can make the change in Enterprise Phone Parameters (and then you can create a Common Phone Profile for phones that should have it set off).
