Hello Cisco community,
I know that the title is very EOL and old hardware; however, a hardware upgrade at this time is not an option.
The issue at hand is poor voice quality. Routing, QoS policies, transport are all good. Voice debugs are not indicating any issue with the above. The only thing I can think of is that this model has a bug that is causing poor voice quality. Would upgrading the firmware of the phone to 9.2(x) or 9.3(x) resolve my poor voice issue? Any suggestion appreciated. Current firmware, release, etc below.
CUCM: 8.6.2.20000-2
Phone: CP-6921
Phone FW: 8.5.0.0(1)

Span the RTP that the phone receives and see if the actual RTP has problems, delays, lost packets, etc.
If the RTP is OK, then most likely it is something with the phone and you want to try other FW

Awesome. Thanks for the info. I am going to pull the statistics from the phone itself and look for any delay's, lost packets, etc. If these statistics show no anomalies I will move forward to upgrading the firmware

I assume pulling the streaming stats from the phone for a call would be sufficient. Here is the info that I was able to gather. I think this may be firmware related and sounds like it needs to be upgrade.

your jitter value of 200ms is way up there. but pretty much only confirms what you already knew; poor voice quality.
you would definitely need to run wireshark, and verify if your dscp settings for RTP are being received as ef. start with that. the fact that QoS is configured properly on the edge of your network, does not mean your provider adheres to it.

Might wanna review this and then review what your stats show to understand those numbers.
