CME 11.0 and 2921 not registering any phones

markmanogamo

2921 with CME 11.0 LOADED.  2921 HAS An ETHER MODULE IN IT WHERE PHONES ARE SETUP AS ACCESS PORTS WITH VOICE VLAN, router has 2 VLANS, 1 FOR DATA, 1 FOR VOICE, has 2 different DHCVCP POOLS, exactly like a config seen on CCO.

no DHCP  handed out to phones, no CME  source addr.

Whenever I try to add IP SOURCE-ADDRESS  to telephony-service, it gives this error:

collab(config-telephony)#ip source-address 172.16.1.1
***  Configured ip address does not match any interface in given VRF. Pls configure a valid ip address

Even tried using loopback int IP adddr, says invalid , why ?

The CME  is not allowing an IP source address, and the 7962 and 9951 are not getting an IP addr from the  DHCP pool, is one causing the other, or unrelated ?

what can i try ?

Hi Mark,

As per the below link, "All SCCP phones in Cisco Unified CME must register through the global voice VRF and must be added to the VRF group on the global voice VRF only."

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/admin/configuration/manual/cmeadm/cmevrf.html

It seems like an issue with VRF configuration. Could you check and confirm whether you are adhering to this and other limitations mentioned for CME with VRF config in the above link.

***  Configured ip address does not match any interface in given VRF. Pls configure a valid ip address. Do you have any VRF configured on this router ?

Can you share your complete config.

I( do not have VRF  configured at first, but after that error, I added a dummy VRF calleed CME  just for grins, but it had no effect.  why is CME  even looking for a VRF if there is none ?

i pasted in mostly the entire config, except for trivial unrelated config.

TRIED adding a vrf = CME, and thne use vrf config, and still get that error:

Configured ip address does not match any interface in given VRF. Pls configure a valid ip address

NOtice i have a CME  config for SIP PHONE, in voice global, and also the standrd SCCP CME config in telephony-service,  is that allowed to run  CME for SCCP AND FOR SIP  in same CME ROUTER ?

Never configured a CME with  VRF. I have sites running CME  without  no issues. if you need VRF follow below guide.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/admin/configuration/manual/cmeadm/cmevrf.html

I have never needed a VRF in a CME router. So i did not configure it and it is not needed.

The question this whole time is about what that error message means and why the router will not accept an ip address for the source address for cme? I have tried some debugs and do not see phones attempting to send a DHCP request, and i don't know if that's related to the cme router not having an ip address either.

I need some suggestions and alternatives to try. I wondered if it was the Fast E subinterfaces as the CME IP router, but the error occurs when i use the loopback IP address also.

The ip addresses in the router are clearly defined and seen in the mac table and the ARP table. There is no good explanation for why this router is acting this way with that error message.

I have a customer site who use sub interface for CME. Remove the VRF, reload the router and try.

removed all VRF config,  reload, same problem,  invalid IP address.
