Hi All,
I currently have two CUCM clusters running version 8.x. I'm looking to consolidate both of these clusters into one and upgrade to version 11.x. The plan is to upgrade the cluster that we are going to keep to version 11.x, migrate users from the old 8.x cluster to the new cluster, and then decommission the old 8.x cluster.
I had a query about licensing after reading the following guide
https://supportforums.cisco.com/t5/forums/postpage/board-id/5961-discussions-ip-telephony
Here is states that we need to ensure that all DLUs are installed prior to upgrading so that we can use them to convert to the required PLM licenses post upgrade. As we have two separate clusters, should I be looking to transfer the DLUs from the cluster that we are going to decommission to cluster that we are going to keep before upgrading? Or is it OK just to run the LCU on both clusters so that I can provide proof of the license entitlement when requested by Cisco licensing?
Thank you

Hi ,
You need to upload all the unused DLUs prior to doing any upgrade and running LCU.
Call manager 8.5 and 8.6 is already end of support from July 2017.
Lastly, u are referring to consolidation of licenses of both the existing Call Manager clusters to a new CUCM version 11.x.
You should get in touch with Cisco Account Manager on how to achieve this consolidation of licenses and migration of licenses.

After you register any outstanding DLUs and perform the upgrade and merger you will have 60 days to work out the licensing. In situation like yours it might be best to contact licensing@cisco.com and work with them on getting correct license. Make sure you have active contracts on your CUCM to convert the DLUs to PLM based licenses.
