Hi Everybody,

I'm now using CUCM 8.6 with a publisher and a subscriber

Now the publisher is crash and need to be installed again.

Is there anything I need to be aware, or just install as normal and restore the CUCM backup?

Thanks in advance

Sam

Install, restore from backup and ensure db replication is ok. Endure you rebuild the pub with same parameters such as host name, IP address, etc.

What if the backup hasn't been done before, can I use the DRS backup from subscriber and restore to publisher ?

Thanks

Sam

Unfortunately no, you cannot backup the sub. Backups are only done on pub. If you never got one then you are out of luck and you need to build the system from scratch.

Thanks for the quick reply, but I still have one more question...

Now I found the backup file, but I only got the CUCM1's backup (publisher), for the CUCM2's backup (subscriber) is lost

Is it possible to restore the CUCM by using the publisher backup file only?

Publisher backup file exists

Hi Sam,

The backup for the pub is what is important. The SUB will then replicate the PUB database. The DRF framework backups up the TFTP, MOH and infraestructure component for the SUB, but it's not critical.

We have a new feature on CUCM 8.6 where you can take a backup from a SUB and restore it on the PUB, only catch is the backup device needs to be configured prior to the PUB crashing.

We believe this new feature might alleviate some issues for our customers in the future.
