Hi team.
I have a doubt respect to upgrade the CUCM system from 7.1(5b) version to 8.6 version.
The "Cisco Unified Communications Manager Software Compatibility Matrix" show that the upgrade from CUCM 7.1(5b) to CUCM 8.6 is "Direct Upgrade", but I don't understand the word "Restricted" near the CUCM 7.1(5b) version. (View image 1.jpg).
In the Unified Communications Manager (CallManager) Upgrade Tool, the CUCM upgrade from 7.1 (5b) version only show Directly upgrade for the 8.5 version. (View image 2.jpg).
Thanks a lot for your assistance.

Hi Ernesto,
The upgrade from 7.1(5b) to 8.6(2a) is a direct upgrade path as shown;
Check out Table 4:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/compat/ccmcompmatr1.pdf
So you won't have to run a multiple hop upgrade, but the move to 8.6 does incorporate
a new "Refresh" upgrade portion (see below)
The Restricted version is the one that has been around forever and is what 95%
of us run. The un-Restricted version only came out with the release of CUCM 7.1(5)
and it contains many changes to encryption that allows it to be shipped/installed in certain
countries around the world where it was previously not allowed.
You will have to determine what version you current servers will support this is the "master" list for Server support;
Supported Cisco Unified Communications Manager Releases by Server
Check out this great doc from Saurabh for the refresh upgrade notes for the final step to 8.6.
This Refresh Upgrade will also apply to your CUCM 8.6 final step;
And read great the attachments from Ryan
Cheers!
Rob
