Does CME support SIP endpoints?

I'm guessing the answer is NO, that CME only supports SIP trunking. Can someone tell me otherwise?

with Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express 4.1 there is SIP support for 7906G, 7911G, 7941G, 7961G, 7970G, and 7971G-GE ip phones.

Starting with CME 3.4 Cisco started supporting SIP enpoints, initially only on 7960/40/12/05 and has evolved since.
