Do you need extra DSP's on a voice gateway to add a VG202 or 204 to a voice network?

Hi Colin,
The VG202 and VG204 both come with C5510 DSPs installed. So, nothing else is required :)
There is a reference to this in this good DSP Tech Note;

Hope this helps!

Rob,
Thanks for your prompt reply. If this is true, then why do we get an error message saying the router is out of DSP resources?

The VG202 and VG204 will not support any type of media resources. These channels are for FXS signaling only.
If you are getting errors that you are out of DSP resources it is most likely 1) A DSP crash bug 2) A codec mismatch error.
In the case of 1) open a TAC case. I'm not currently familiar with any crashes on these routers.
In the case of 2) you're probably receiving "Resource Unvailable, Unspecified" or cause = 47. This means you have a codec negotiation problem more than anything else.

I think you need extra DSP's if you do Hardware Conference Bridge. If not you will be ok with the existing DSP's.
