Hi Guys,
I,m trying to configure a 2801 router to act as a call processor in a network. Under ephone I'm looking for the 7942, 7962 and 7937 phone types but they do not appear. I've downloaded their respective firmware files but still no success.
The router is using an advanced enterprisek9-mz.124-25g IOS. Below is the running config. Any idea what the problem couold be?

I don't have the answer but I did just double check the IOS version which is required to support these phones:
Q. What Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express release is required for the phones?
A. The Cisco Unified IP Phone 7962G and Cisco Unified IP Phone 7942G are first supported by Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express Version 4.1 and Cisco IOS Software Release 12.4(15)T (available now).
Additionally, I looked at the ephone-type command usage, as this command allows you to create/define models not already available to you.
"This configuration template defines a set of attributes that describe the features of the new phone type. Use this command to add phone types that are not already defined in the system."
Source: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/command/reference/cme_e1ht.html#wp1074542
But I don't think you should need the ephone-type command, as the above IOS version check confirms it should already be there. Like I said, not the answer, just trying to help a bit. Good luck and I'll be following this thread to see where it goes.

Andrew-
I believe that you may need to go to a different IOS version, something like 12.4(24)T. As you can see in this link:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/requirements/guide/33matrix.htm
The version of code that you are mentioning is not on that list, in fact there are no G versions of code on there. The 12.4(24)T version is on there and the documentation for the 7.1 version of CME says that it will support the 7942 and 7962 phones.
Hope that helps.
04-25-2013 07:53 AM
Thanks John and Antony. Let me change the IOS and see what happens
04-25-2013 08:08 AM
Hi Guys,
I upgraded to a c2801-advipservicesk9-mz.124-15.T13.bin and now the router is constantly rebooting and i get the followinf error repeatedly:
"Possible Software Fault.Upon recurrence.please collect crashinfo, "show tech" and contact cisco Technical Support".
04-25-2013 08:25 AM
Andrew,
Is the reboot continuous or do you have a few moments once the router boots up to enter some commands? If it's continuous, you might need to go into ROMMON and change the firmware again or collect diagnostic information if your heart is set on that version.
04-25-2013 08:29 AM
The reboot is continous. I do not get a chance to enter any command.
How can I change the firmware to support the newer IOS's and also how do I get the diagnostics from ROMMON mode.
04-25-2013 08:37 AM
Hi Andrew,
Press Ctrl + Break to enter into ROMMON mode.
Use tftpdnld command to upload IOS.
Use the procedure as described in URL
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/access/1800/1841/software/configuration/guide/b_rommon.html

04-25-2013 08:51 AM
Thanks Aman,
I had already done that and had restored the old IOS that did not support the ephone types.
It seems whenever I put a higher end IOS I get the recurring error. Which IOS will support the 7942, 7962 and 7937 phones and not crash on this router? Below is the show version for the router:

How do I change the CME version. I thought after installing the new version telephony-service will automatically be updated.
