How to clean up Common partition

Hi all

I have a CUCM (9.1.2) that complains about LogPartitionLowWaterMarkExceeded/LogPartitionHighWaterMarkExceeded.

I have lowered the amount of files and file size of the trace settings. This didnt help much.

I have deleted the biggest files in BAT. This didnt help much.

Both of these freed about 1 gig i guess.

Adjusting LogPartitionHighWaterMarkExceeded in Alarm central (RTMT) just helps avoid the common partition becoming completely full.

Is there an (easy) way of cleaning up TFTP? I believe firmware/device packs/locales are stored in common partition as well.

Any other tricks that would help?

This issue has hit 3 out of 4 of our UCCX (9.0.2-11something). Any tips here?

COP file download link:

https://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=284510097&flowid=45900&softwareid=282204704&release=ELM&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest

I also see a latest version available "ciscocm.free_common_space_v1.3.k3.cop.sgn". Please go through the readme file before proceeding.

Hi Tony,

Easiest way is to use the COP file to free up space in Common partition.

"ciscocm.free_common_space_v1.1.cop.sgn"

https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12445721/cscul50066-upgrade-fails-due-lack-disk-space-common-partition

You could also go to trace and log central in RTMT --> Collect files and collect all the older period logs and while doing that you will see a checkbox for delete logs from server which could also clean up more space.

Hi Rajan

Excellent. Is there a way of deleting old device packs? I know they cannot be uninstalled but is there a way of deleting them? After all, they have to match the version of CUCM?

And is there a siumular thing for UCCX?

/Tony

Hi Tony,

I dont think we could delete the old device packs but you could delete the unused firmware files you got from those device packs by logging into OS administration page --> TFTP file management.

I am not sure whether there is a similar option for UCCX. I know for sure this can be used for CUCM and Unity connection. Probably others can comment on that.

Hi Deepak

A slight update:

That bug affects the whole 9.x so we have to upgrade to 10.x er newer to avoid that bug.

Information i got from TAC

Hi Tony,

I believe TAC is absolutely correct in saying that since the below defect which they opened to track this issue does not show any version under known Fixed Release. Hence, it is very important that you confirm with them which version will have a definite fix for that

Hi Deepak

Thanks for clarifying that. Actually i didn't look at "fixed releases".

No need to upgrade/patch to loose this bug then, not until it has a known fix.

That is correct Tony, just click on "Save Bug" section of the defect so that whenever there are any updates to the defect, you can get an email notification.

Deepak

Hi Deepak

That was a feature i didn't know. Thanks for the tip, now i don't have to check up on it every week.

+4. Thanks for the info.
