Recently upgraded from 10.5 to 12.5 and dont see any more license manager under CCUM publisher.

Is there any way to see license from 10.5 in any files or any way???? I am running on tem 90 days license.

I need license info from 10.5 for Cisco License to upgrade to 12.5

ok here is update from me not being expert with Cisco CCUM, some people stated here after upgrade license could be gone forever. Its not true since CCUM has two partitions: active and inactive. After I upgrade 10.5 to 12.5 my active includes 12.5 and inactive 10.5 - that inactive include everything from before the time system was upgraded so yes license as well and that is not gone forever !!!!! Cisco did that on purpose if you change your mind or have issue in these 90 days for license migration you can always revert back to whatever was before (make sure do not make any new chnages during that time) - i did not know that and nobody mentioned this (besides some unnecessary and usefulness comments) So if you have inactive partitions with older version and want to switch to that partitions:

1. utils system switch-version - this command must be run on both nodes (publisher and subscriber)

2. utils dbreplication reset all - from the publisher after both nodes are switched over

3. verify that the replication is set by running the command “utils dbreplication runtimestate”

when switching back to latest version just: utils system switch-version

I think my reply is simple and easy and include all what I asked for in the topic "How to see 10.5 license after upgrade to 12.5"

FYI: after switching back to 10.5 I was able to:

In order to locate the node-lock information of the PLM please follow the steps below to generate the license request file where the licenses are located:
Cisco Prime License Manager: generate a license request for V10.X and V11.X
1. Log in to Cisco Prime License Manager
2. From the Licenses > Fulfillment page, select Generate License Request from the drop-down list under Other Fulfillment Options
3. The License Request and Next Steps window appears. Copy the selected text to your clipboard or click Save it to a file on your PC

That text is UID and based on that Cisco is able to provide license key which can be lost, not saved, etc..... So I believe that UID. Another thing is make sure you back up PLM using backups and having that backup license info can be recovered even in the lab on the same version. There many ways to get out from **bleep**ty situation like mine.  I hope my reply helps somebody being in the same situation and I dont judge that person in any way. This is life and only a person who does nothing, does not make any mistakes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CUCM 12.5 cinverts licensing to Smart Licensing and there is no longer and ELM/PLM on prem server.

If you have not already done so - contact your Account Team immediately to assist with setting up a Smart Account, and either have them or your partner assist with TAC and Global Licensing to upgrade your 10.5 licensing to 12.5, converted to the Smart Account.

This was one of the major changes for 12.x and should have been thoroughly planned out prior to upgrading. 90 days should be enough time, but I really hope you have the proper Smartnet and can get the license changes made in time.

Thank you,

I think I should be able to see old license file but I dont know where to find it.

This change in licensing is explained in the upgrade guide, was it not reviewed????

If the proper documentation for an upgrade was thoroughly read and used for planning, this should not be a surprise. You'll need to get your smart account/virtual account sorted out, as well as the connectivity method you will use for smart licensing.

The license commands for CLI that allowed you to download the file were removed on 12.x, as well as the PLM services, I don't think there's a way for you to download the file anymore, TBH, I'm not even sure if the upgrade keeps the file in the system as it's now useless.

Do you have a backup of the CUCM VM that hosted the PLM?  If so could you spin up a copy of that, isolated of course, and grab a Licence Request from the PLM?

for upgrade from 10 to 12 new contract is required and our sales needs to be involved - the cisco license model is the worst and even TAC is not helping - what a nightmare..... even if I read upgrade guide what would be the difference? none .... I know what I should have known before ...... inactive partition still has 10.5 and active has 12.5 so I can try that but again is this worth it? 85 days should be enough for sorting this license nightmare

The upgrade guide has a whole section on licensing.  However we are where we are.  How did you obtain the upgrade, was it ordered using your SWSS contract entitlement using PUT, or was it a purchased out-of-contract upgrade?  Either way as well as the S/O number of the upgrade Cisco licensing will want to see your entitlement to the licence count from the pre-upgrade version, normally that's by providing a Licence Request from PLM.

However as an alternative if you can find any PAK from your 10.5 licences then Cisco may be able to follow up from that.  We had to do something similar for an install where they accidentally deleted their PLM.

@sprintership Don’t be so condescending in your reply to people that try to help you out. If you would have read and understood the information in the upgrade guide you would not be where you are now. It’s as simple as that. Be happy that there are nice people out there that do their best to help you out on their own time.

Of course !!!! I am grateful. I am not trying to rude but if you look somewhere else most people admit cisco license model sucks and period. Even some people here are more nice than Cisco tac with tier repose thats my frustration. I am not trying to offend anybody here besides just Cisco. I can provide the proof what their reply to me but thats my and your waste of time.

It time to engage sales to get new contract and maybe some get ride of this to get something with easier license model.

No doubt that licensing is not the strong side of Cisco. No one would argue against that.

10.x to 12.x is a chargeable upgrade i not covered by existing SWSS.  So there should be a contract in place, assuming the upgrade was obtained through officialf channels.  If not then I can understand both TAC and GLO not being top helpful.

I would suggest logging into https://software.cisco.com and reviewing your smart account and other legacy PAK / license files. The new My Cisco Entitlements also keeps good track of any orders and upgrades made.

It will be here that you potentially will find the old PAK or license keys. If you do not already have a smart account, get it setup - then you can go into the legacy license admin, find the CUCM assigned licenses, and request a conversion to smart licensing.

you can see the old licenses only from 10.5 version.if you haven't deleted the old machine just turn it on and check from PLM. or  you can Check with customer if they have any PAK, SO number or instance no. if you get any of these just open a ticket with TAC or use CCWr(access depends on your CCO id) and you will be able to get the license details.

Cisco licensing is easy.
