Hello,
Already search but didn't find anything related to this issue/bug.
I'm having this issue with one IP Communicator in one of our remote sites.
The phone was working fine and sundly got a black screen.
I already unistall and install the CIPC but still with same error. It is running windows 7. It can ping call manager without any problem.
All other phones on that site are fine.
Any idea on how to solve this issue?
Thanks,
Chris

It could be a permission problem. Have you try open CIPC as Administrator (using a administrator's account)?

It might be not related with firewall/antivirus.
Can ping from call manager and to call manager.
As I said, it was working before and in a middle of a call it got the black screen.
Is there a way to delete logs, cache, etc?
Thanks,
Chris

Check this information:
The Cisco IP Communicator gets stuck in a blank screen during startup because of a corrupted registry hive.
This issue is documented by Cisco bug ID CSCts11852 (registered customers only) . Refer to the bug for a possible fix and workaround.

Hi Chris,
I just came across this issue on my own workstation. IP Communicator was working fine on Friday but this morning it crashed when I answered a call and then would not re-launch, it just came up with a black screen.
I completely uninstalled it, including deleting the folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Cisco Systems\Cisco IP Communicator\
(your drive letter may vary...)
I then reinstalled the same version (8.6.1) and it is now working again.
I hope this helps.

Uninstalled IPC through Windows 7, Programs and Features, then delete c:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\IP Communicator folder. Then go to the registry \\HK_Current User\Software\Cisco Systems and delete the folder.
Then go to the registry \\HK_Current User\Software\Cisco Systems and delete the folder. Reboot. Reinstall
It seems that if their are any remanents left behind the Soft phone will still have a black screen. also insure in call manager that the current MAC address is in call manager.

I uninstalled and reinstalled and that did not fix mine either. However, removing the program files folder, deleting registry entries, and re-installing it as John says above worked for me. Ver 8.6.3

I know the issue was already fixed. But i have the version 8.6.1.0 and had the same Black screen issue. And the fix was the following:
went to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cisco Systems, Inc.\Communicator\Device\device.calls.placed]
Detele device.calls.placed key reopen Cisco IP Communicator. And that fixed the issue.
Hope that work!

I agree. The key is to find which hive is corrupted. I deleted three of them and that is all I had to do to fix the problem. Under [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cisco Systems, Inc.\Communicator\Device I deleted the keys listed below.
device.calls.placed
device.calls.received
device.mediamanager.headsetstate
A couple of days before the black screen problem started I had problems with my headsets so I decided to delete the headsetstate.
