IP Phone 8961 Color Key Expansion is not working

Hi,

I have a new Cisco IP Phone 8961 with one color key expansion, and the main phone is working, but the expansion is not working, there is nothing on the LED display, and the indicators of the button are all off. Our call manager is CUCM10.0, Expansion module information on CUCM phone configuration has selected the module CKEM 36-button line expansion module, but the Load name is null and can't be changed.

Is there any settings on cucm or on cisco IP phone?

Hi,

How box is powered ?

can u please check the power requirements ?

If the Cisco Unified IP Color Key Expansion Module is connected to a Cisco Unified IP Phone that uses 802.3AT power, a local power supply is not required. If the phone uses 802.3AF power, you must connect a power cube to it for it to supply power for all connected key expansion modules. If the phone is already locally powered by a power cube, no additional power cube is required when installing the key expansion module to it.

regds,

Hi,

If the KEM does not show any signs of receiving power then there could be a couple of scenarios:

1. The KEM is DOA , you can try it on any other 8961 as well to confirm the same. In that case it will need to be replaced.

Configuration wise you need to check that the default loads on CUCM under Device > device settings are correct and the KEM is selected on the 8961 phone configuration page.
