Guys,

very quick one I not seen before.

Just upgraded a single phone to SCCP45.9-3-1SR2-1S, before we do a mass upgrade just to check it out.

On the phone http page i see

Version
*SCCP45.9-3-1SR2-1S*

What does the * indicate

The current default load is

SCCP45.9-3-1SR1-1S, will change once all the phone are upgraded as we have multiple sites

thanks as always.

Paul

Paul,

I don't know that it has any special meaning. I noticed the same when I upgraded phones for a customer about a month ago. I upgraded a little over 2000 phones to the same version. I think it is just cosmetic.

Hey Paul/Bill,

My guess would be that it references the Security enhancements with

this firmware version;

Firmware Release 9.3(1)SR2 security enhancements

Firmware Release 9.3(1)SR2 contains the following security enhancements:

  • The  phone does not request authorized key information from the TFTP server.  Without the authorized keys, the administrator must enter the SSH user  id and password to connect to the phone for debugging.
  • The debugging settmask commands are added to the phone debug shell. Making the commands  available in the debug shell removes the need for the default user  account.
  • The ability to log into a default user account has been removed. Phone debugging can only be performed using the debug account.
  • The ability to log into the phone from the AUX port on the phone has been removed.

This feature had no user impact.

Cheers!
