When configuring the IPMA Service, the URL for the service "http://callmanager_ip_add:8080/ma/servlet/MAService?cmd=doPhoneService&Name=#DEVICENAME#" gives the following error "XML document must have a top level element. Error Processing Resource".
When a user selects IPMA using phone services button, the error displayed is "HTTP file error".
Callmanager version in use is 6.1. It was an upgrade from callmanger version 4.1.
Will appreciate any help i can get ohow to resolve this issue.
Thanks in advance.

the xml error is coming because you are checking the service without
configuring the whole manager/assistant device association stuff
try to follow the complete procedure

Did any one find a solution for this one. I
am running cm 7.1.5 and am getting exactly the same errors. My users are perfectly configured. I also had my configs checked by several people including a Cisco TAC engineer. I did a sniff on the phone and it looks like appon the http get request when selecting te manager service the server is sending a blank page back.
I am very frustrated as this is the last issu on my issu log for this customer before I can sign off the project. It is also one of those types of services that is installed at the CEO's phone.
What is interesting about the sniff is that the http get request is returning a 100 OK. The "HTTP File Error" message is displayed in the status line of the phone which gets updated via skinny messages and not http. The TCP flow to port 8080 there for ends without any errors

Just saw my old comment here and wanted to point out the solution at the time. CUCM ver 7.1.5 had a bug. The IPMA application user automaticall derives a password from the database secret password. My password had an "&" in that caused the problem. I only had to change this application account password and IPMA worked like a charm.
