Looking for the final firmware for a 7970G?

I am looking for the last firmware that was released for the 7970G/7971G IP phone.

The filename is 'cmterm-7970_7971-sccp.9-4-2SR3-1.k3.cop.sgn' but I can't find it anywhere.  The filename is listed in the release notes here - https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/7900_series/firmware/9-4-2SR3/p790_b_cisco-unified-ipphone-7900-942sr3.html

So it was available at some point, however all firmware for the 7970G/7971G seem to have disappeared from CCO.  I have looked else where but can't find it.  I was hoping someone has a copy I can grab.  I have an old CUCM 7.1(5) test system in a lab and wanted to update the two 7970G phones I still have.

I managed to find this link - https://software.cisco.com/download/home/278436620/type/282074289/release/9.4%25282%2529SR3

However you get a message saying this file is no longer available to download.

Thanks for the quick reply.  That link results in the same - "This file is no longer available to be downloaded." message

I am looking for the SCCP image as well...

CRAP. it is too!!  i thought i was helping you out. in all fairness, that is a very old model.

The last SIP I downloaded was 9.4(2)SR1.  Couldn't find SR3.

I was told not to go looking for it because it was pulled due to a nasty bug.

Maybe raise a TAC Case and see if they can publish it for you?

I managed to find the 9.4(2)SR2 (which required a RSA keys update .cop file to allow CUCM 7.1(5) to install it).  I was just after the final release...  I know these phones are EoL but they still work fine in the lab...  I think the file is included in CUCM 11 and the CUCM 11 device pack...

The phones are old enough that if you have done a factory reset on them they will require a two-stage firmware upgrade. (I have a 7970 on my desk in this condition.) I have been unable to get ahold of an 8.4/8.5 version of the firmware to do the first stage. If you have any luck, please let me know.

I have just had a dig through some archive folders I have and have only managed to find 9.2(3), 9.2(3)SR1, 9.2(3)SR2, 9.4(2)SR1 and 9.4(2)SR2.  I don't remember having to go through a 2-stage upgrade with these although neither of them were new when I got them so probably upgraded to a 9.x release before I got them.  I know the jump from 9.4(2)SR1 to 9.4(2)SR2 included some new RSA signatures so an upgrade to the CUCM system was required - or at least it was with my 7.1(5) system.

I managed to find this online - not sure posting URLs to copies of Cisco images is allowed though..

I have factory reset them several times and never had a problem getting them back online and registered with my lab CUCM 7.1(5) server (VM on ESXi 6.5).

It's the 7.1 server that saved you. The new firmware with the new signatures started with 8. I'm glad it works!

I have these versions running on a CUCM 6.x for a 7970 and 7975

Unfortunately as several devices have been deprecated from CUCM, the FW for those devices (not sure if all of them, haven't checked) has also been removed from downloads and that's why now those links are dead ends.

Your best best would be to open a TAC case, or reach our to your SE/AM for this.

I understand the 7970 is EoL etc - however the 7940/7960 is even older and the firmware for these is still available to download - 8.1(2)SR2 from 2011...  The last 7970 firmware is 9.4.(2)SR3 from 2017?  The 7941/61 & 7942/62 have 9.4.(2)SR3 firmware available to download?

Why is the 7970 being 'hidden'?  - Colour screen, touchscreen - better than a lot of the current IP phones?

I can't believe these individual files aren't listed in the release notes, especially since you can't download the .zip file from Cisco anymore.  Finding this information is more difficult than it has any reason to be.

The newest cmterm-7970_7971-sccp.9-4-2SR3-1.zip firmware contains the following files:
