Hi,

I need to configure MVA, I have CUCM 7.1.3 and 2 MGCP gateway.

As per the MVA restriction it says we can configure MVA only on H323 gateway. Could any one confirm if the same can be implemented using MGCP.

Please share the configuration example for same.

Thanks,

Vinay

Hi Vinay,

We can have the configuration done on the router, which already has MGCP running.

Below are the steps to be done on the CUCM and Gateway -

Step1.

1.Login to CCM http://<ip-address of publisher>/ccmadmin
2.Goto  System -> Service Parameter
In Server List Box, Select “CUCM Publisher”
In Service List Box, Select “Cisco Call Manager”
Scroll down to the bottom of the “Service parameter Configuration” Page.
In the “Cluster wide Parameters (System – Mobility)”
.Enable Enterprise Feature Access - True
.Enable voice Access - True
.Enable Voice Access Number - 12345678

Step2.CREATING PARTITION
Goto Call Routing -> Class of Control -> Partition
.Test_MVA_Partition

Step3.CREATING CALLING SEARCH SPACE
Goto Call Routing -> Class of Control -> Calling Search Space
.Name of the CSS: - Test_MVA_MC_CSS
.Selected partition: - Test_MVA_Partition

Step4.CONFIGURING MEDIA RESOURCES
Goto MEDIA Resources -> Mobile Voice Access
Put the Mobile Voice Access Directory Number.
.DN:3456
.Partition:Test_MVA_Partition

Step5.MOBILE VOICE ACCESS SERVICE.
Goto Tools -> Control Center – Feature Services

Step6.Restart the “Cisco Unified Mobile Voice Access Service”.

Step7.ADDING H.323 VOICE GATEWAY TO CUCM.
These Voice gateways will be used for playing an IVR to the caller.
CSS Assigned to the Gateway Should be Test_MVA_MC_CSS

Gateway(Config)#application
Gateway(Config)#service Test_MC_MVA http:// of publisher:8080>/ccmivr/pages/IVRMainpage.vxml
Gateway#call application voice load Test_MC_MVA
Next Step is to add two dial-peer to the voice gateway:-

!

!
dial-peer voice 1234 voip
service Test_MC_MVA
session target ipv4:
incoming called-number 12345678
codec g711ulaw
!
dial-peer voice 3456 voip
preference 1
destination-pattern 3456
session target ipv4:
dtmf-relay h245-alphanumeric
codec g711ulaw
no vad

!
Step8.CREATING  ROUTE GROUP
Goto Call Routing -> Route/Hunt -> Route Group
Click on Add New
Name of the Route Group  : -  Test_MVA_MC_RG
Distribution Algorithm   : -  Circular

Step9.CREATING ROUTE LIST
Name of the Route List :- MVA_MC_RL

Step10.CREATING  ROUTE  PATTERN
Goto Call Routing -> Route/Hunt -> Route Pattern
Route Pattern : -  12345678
Route Partition : -
Gateway/Route List: - Test_MVA_MC_RL

Step11.Disable Mobility Options visible in the CUCM User Page.

You can have MGCP and H323 running in the same router, but you CANNOT use the MGCP PRI for MVA.

Either you use MGCP to control it, or leave it to H323. But you cannot have both in the same PRI.

You need to configure an H323 GW in CUCM and the corresponding H323 config in the VGW for MVA.

What's the difference between Mobile Voice Access Number and Mobile Voice Access Directory Number?

Mobile Voice Access Number:

This is the DID number that end users use to reach Mobile Voice Access.

Mobile Voice Access Directory Number:

This is the internal DN to receive Mobile Voice Access calls from the gateway.
